2 cyclists hit by truck near Seattle's Queen Anne neighborhood

SEATTLE — Two cyclists were hurt after they were hit by a pickup truck on Monday morning.

The crash happened near the border of the Lower Queen Anne and South Lake Union neighborhoods

Officers and medics were called to the scene on southbound Aurora Avenue North near Roy Street around 4:30 a.m. Monday.

A Seattle police spokesperson said the two cyclists -- a man and a woman -- were "unfamiliar with the area" and tried to cross the highway, not knowing there was a berm. Both were taken to the hospital in critical condition, a Seattle Fire Department spokesperson said..
